CWCA Goals 2008-2009
The following
3-5 year plans were discussed at the April 22, 2008 Annual Planning Meeting
Marketing - Continue to utilize CWCA website as primary portal of Public League information
- Compile past Public League Champions for use on website &
event programs
- Network “Wrestlers & Teams to Watch” with media outlets (i.e. Chicago Tribune, Sun Times & Illinoismatmen.com)
- Promote sport to Principals
& Athletic Directors
City Tournament - Establish consistency
in format & location
Officials - Establish &
utilize system of rating city officials
- Develop contracts to help prevent cancellations
- Communicate officials directory
Clinic - Network
with World Sport Chicago’s Olympian network to bring in world-class clinicians
- Include coaching workshops in CPS staff development days
Banquet - Establish awards for CPD, CCC & CPS elementary wrestling programs
- Include, communicate &
promote to Friends of Public League wrestling
City Colleges - Establish annual
“Wayne Watson Cup” to be awarded to top CCC team
- Open communication lines between CCC coaches & CPS programs
- Network for Tournaments
& dual meets
Chicago
Park District (CPD) - 3 regional Summer camps networked with World Sport Chicago
- Wrestling Instructors library
- Run citywide tournament
after High School season
- Continue to develop & maximize wrestling duals & tournaments at Mayor Daley’s Sports Fest
- All star meet with CPS elementary
schools
- Enter
Citywide Champs in IKWF tournament by 2013

CWCA Accomplishments The CWCA takes particular pride in contributing in part or entirely
to the following accomplishments for the 2007-2008 year:
1 . Successful lobbying
of Chicago Teachers Union to change wording in Wrestling Coaches contract. (allows
programs to maintain 3 coaches for 2 levels of wrestling). 2. 24% increase in 2008 Frosh/Soph CPS City Tournament (90% increase in last 3 years). 3. Collaboration with Chicago Park District to include wrestling
(CPD & CPS Frosh/Soph) at Mayor Daley's Holiday Sports Festival. 4. 250 Chicago
Cup (USA vs. Bulgaria) tickets donated by the World Sport Chicago. 5. 10 IHSA State Qualifiers. 6. New CWCA annual
awards and voting criteria determined (All-Academic Team, Outstanding Wrestlers, Adminstrator,
Friend and Coach (Varsity and Frosh/Soph) of the Year). 7. 14 Camp of Champs Team Camp Scholarships
awarded. 8. Contributing to a second year of quality CPS High School City Championships (Varsity
held at UIC Pavilion!). 9. Donated legal services for State Incorporation. 10. 70% CPS High School membership 11. Networking with IKWF, BTS, and Chicago Park District.
